Who We Are

The Makuyu Education Centre is a school in the village of Makuyu, Kenya, committed to providing a cost-free education to impoverished students who are otherwise unable to afford the costs of Kenya's public schooling, which include uniforms, exam fees, etc. Founded in 2011, the school also provides those children with a free meal every day to help fight malnutrition, incentivize the children to attend class regularly, and to ensure they don't learn on an empty stomach. This initiative is local, accountable, direct, and efficient. We have a small, dedicated staff, none of whom receive a salary. All donations go directly to the school - be it providing meals, paying teacher salaries, or buying textbooks.
